It is connected to the BMW's CAN data network and programmed with a secure, unique PIN code which is accessible via buttons that are installed in your car. If the service/valet mode has been activated, your BMW will not be able to drive once it has been started. This will stop anyone else from testing driving the vehicle while you are away. After you return, it will return to normal stopping your vehicle from being tampered with or stolen again.

Anti-Hijack
With the advent of high-tech thieves becoming increasingly advanced, the technology in security systems has to evolve, this is why Ghost has created this subtle and unobtrusive immobiliser. It is designed to stop thieves from putting in an ignition key or replacing the ECU to start your vehicle and drive off. Ghost connects to your CAN data network, and utilizes the buttons on your vehicle (steering wheel and centre console as well as door panels) to create a unique push sequence that requires to be entered before the engine can start.
This will activate the anti-hijack function and once active any attempt to start the engine will be immediately blocked. If the system detects that the vehicle is no longer moving, it will honk the horn and flash the indicators, if it is unable to identify the correct code it will also stall the engine (where possible). The Ghost can be positioned in the dashboard area, or in the center console. It is completely hidden, tamperproof, and does not need any additional wiring. The device is connected to the CAN Data Network of the vehicle (similar to an Ethernet cable) and a personal pin code is programmed in it. This pin code must be chosen before the vehicle starts. This prevents thieves from using a cloned key or replacing the ECU in order to bypass this system.
If the vehicle is stolen in any way, the Ghost will enter a service mode and disables all functions unless a PIN code is entered or you make use of the mobile app to disarm it.
